Honda City SPORT blends sharper looks, smooth petrol power, and everyday usability into one smart, stylish sedan.
Honda City SPORT Review – A Sedan That Knows How to Have Fun
The Honda City has always had a certain reputation in India. People buy it for its comfort, reliability, and that premium sedan feel without breaking the bank. The new Honda City SPORT doesn’t throw away that winning formula. Instead, it adds a few details that make you stop and think, “Yep, that’s a bit more exciting.”
First Impressions – Subtle but Noticeable
At first glance, it’s not a completely different car, but the changes do stand out. The blacked-out grille gives the nose a stronger, sportier expression. The LED headlamps are crisp and modern. And the low, sleek profile works nicely with the new dark alloy wheels.
There’s also a rear spoiler—small enough to avoid looking tacky, big enough to complete the look. The Honda City SPORT badge at the back is understated. It doesn’t scream for attention, but you’ll notice it if you’re looking.
Engine and Drive – Smooth, With a Hint of Playfulness
Power comes from the well-known 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. If you’ve driven a Honda before, you already know this motor is refined, easy to live with, and eager to rev when you want it to. The figures—121 PS and 145 Nm—are decent for a sedan in this segment.
The 6-speed manual gearbox is light and precise, the kind you enjoy shifting. The CVT automatic is great for city traffic, though if you’re in the mood for control, the paddle shifters (on the CVT variant) do the trick.
Honda has tweaked the suspension slightly, so it feels a little more planted in corners. It’s not a sports car, but it gives you more confidence than the standard City. And fuel efficiency? Drive with care, and 17–18 kmpl is within reach.
Cabin – Familiar Space, Sporty Details
Inside, the changes are subtle but effective. Red stitching on the seats and steering wheel adds a bit of flair. The seats themselves are comfortable for long trips, and there’s plenty of legroom in the back. Visibility is excellent all around.
You get an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster. Everything is easy to use without digging through complicated menus. The boot is big enough for family luggage, and rear AC vents keep passengers cool in summer traffic.
Safety – Standard Honda Strength
The Honda City SPORT carries the same strong safety package as the regular City: six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and a rear camera with guidelines. The ACE body structure—Honda’s safety design for better crash protection—is part of the deal.
Day-to-Day Experience
What I like most is how normal the Honda City SPORT feels to drive every day. It’s not trying to be extreme. It’s easy to park, comfortable in traffic, and relaxed at highway speeds. The sportier suspension doesn’t ruin the ride comfort either.
At around ₹12–13 lakh (ex-showroom), it’s not the cheapest sedan out there, but it offers a good mix of style, tech, and that dependable Honda engineering. If you’ve owned a City before, it will feel familiar, just with a bit more personality.
Final Verdict
The Honda City SPORT is for someone who likes the idea of a sporty sedan but doesn’t want to give up daily comfort or reliability. It’s stylish without being flashy, lively without being impractical.
If the regular City feels a little too safe for your taste, this variant might be exactly the right upgrade.
